Abstract

A study was carried out during 2009 at Kanpur to standardize the vigour tests in rice and establish the relationship between field emergence and different vigour tests. Rice genotype Pant-10 showed highest germination, vigour as well as field emergence among tested genotypes of rice (Oryza sativa L.). Laboratory vigour tests like accelerated ageing of 48 hrs, final count of germination as well as germination rate are the reliable for prediction of field emergence potential in rice.
