The study was conducted in 12 villages of three selected blocks i.e., Pithora, Basana, Saraypali of Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh to study possession of breeds, flock size, experience of goat keepers in goat rearing. A total of 120 respondents were randomly selected from the selected villages. The data were collected using personal interview method. In the study area 63.33% of the respondents were having up to 10 years experience in goat rearing and78.34% had possessed 10 to 20 heads. Regarding possession of breeds, 90.83% of the respondents (had only local/deshi breeds and 95.83% preferred goat rearing because it required low management cost, non-requirement of concentrate feed, had assured regular extra-income, and requires less care.
