Abstract

Selection parameters in linseed were studied in 45 F1s developed by 10 x 10 diallel mating design excluding reciprocals for 10 characters. A wide range of variability was observed. Capsules plant−1 and seed yield plant−1 showed high heritability with high genetic advance. The phenotypic coefficient of variation (PCV) and genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV) estimates were also high for capsules plant−1 and seed yield plant−1. Primary branches plant−1, secondary branches plant−1, capsules plant−1 and seeds capsule−1 showed highly significant and positive association with seed yield. Capsules plant−1, seeds capsule−1 and 1000-seed weight had highly positive direct effect on seed yield. Thus, it is concluded that capsules plant−1 and seeds capsule−1 should be given due consideration during selection programme for higher seed yield of linseed.
