A field experiment was conducted during two consecutive kharif seasons of 2010 and 2011 at Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh), India. Weed seed counts were lower with application of post emergence herbicides over control plot. Minimum weed seed counts were recorded with the application of pyrazosulfuron-ethyl in soil depth (0–5, 5–10 and 0–15 cm) at harvest with higher grain (64.14 q ha−1) and straw yield (123.43 q ha−1). Net monetary returns and benefit: cost ratio were also highest with the application of pyrazosulfuron-ethyl.
