The historical rainfall data for the period of 28 years (1983–2010) of district Morena in Gird agro-climatic zone of Madhya Pradesh, India were analyzed to know weekly, monthly, seasonal and annual probabilities at different levels of rainfall for timely seedbed preparation, selection of crop varieties and choice of cropping pattern. About 90% of the total annual rainfall is received during South-West (SW) monsoon months (June-September) with high intensity causes moderate to severe erosion. Rabi season (October-February) accounts for 7%, while pre-monsoon or summer months (March-May) accounts for 3% of annual rainfall. The probability distribution of seasonal rainfall indicated that the occurrence of 70% probable rainfall in kharif, summer and rabi seasons are 425.5, 10.5 and 13.1 mm, respectively, whereas 470.2 mm is the annual rainfall. It was found that the number of rainy days was 36 per annum on 70% probability.
