Constraints in adoption of recommended maize cultivation practices in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh

A study was carried out to find out various constraints in maize cultivation as perceived by the farmers in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh, India. About 120 farmers from selected villages were randomly selected for the study. Farmers were interviewed and available information was collected. The study revealed that 56.7% of respondents had low level of education. Most of the respondents observed that non-adoption of technology in large scale (68.3%) was because of socio-economic constraints and majority of the respondents were expressed that lack of training (93%) as communicational and information constraints. Majority of respondents (93.3%) suggested that the extension system needs to be strengthened to convey right information at right time.
