Influences of different planting methods, sub-surface drip fertigation and bioinoculants on root parameters and root dry matter production in vetiver [Vetiveria zizanioides (L.) Nash] were studied during 2010–2011 at Vellayani, Kerala. Planting on filled in coconut husk lined trenches could improve all the root parameters (root length, root spread, root volume) and root dry matter production when compared to planting on ridges. The effect of sub-surface fertigation was also remarkable in improving root dry weight, root volume and root number of vetiver. Combined application of bioinoculants with Azospirillum, AMF and pseudomonads could increase root volume of the vetiver also.
