Three dosages of the tolfenpyrad 15% EC, viz 100, 125 and 150 g along with two treated checks[cartap hydrochloride 50% SP @ 500 g ai ha−1 and chlorphenapyr (Lepido) 10% SC @ 75 g ai ha−1] were evaluated against diamond back moth (DBM) Plutella xylostella Linn. in cabbage (Brassica oleraceae var. capitata Linn.) during rabi 2009–10 and 2010–11. All the treatments were significantly superior over untreated check. Among the treatments, maximum reduction in larval population of DBM after 3nI, 7thand 14thdays after spray ranged from 25.01 to 96.39% in tolfenpyrad @ 150 and 125 g ai ha−1. Minimum larval population of DBM with maximum marketable yield was recorded in tolfenpyrad @ 150 g ai ha−1, followed by cartap hydrochloride and tolfenpyrad @ 125 g ai ha−1.
