Abstract

An experiment with six concentrations of saline water (0, 200, 400, 600, 800 and 1000 ppm) was conducted in pots during January-April 2012 to study their impacts on wheat (Triticum aestivum L. emend. Fiori & Paol.). Saline water considerably reduced the plant growth and influenced several biochemical parameters. Saline water did not inhibit total chlorophyll, carbohydrate and protein content in leaves. Activities of the antioxidant enzymes like CAT (Catalase), GR (Glutathione reductase), SOD (Superoxide dismutase) and lipid peroxidation, however, were affected with increasing salinity.
