A field experiment to study the response of sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) to microbial consortium (Biomix-I) was conducted during spring 2011 and 2012 at Ludhiana, Punjab in a randomized block design with three replications. The highest cane yield (64.37 t ha−1) was obtained with RFD (recommended chemical fertilizer dose) + FYM + Biomix-I and it was statistically at par with RFD + FYM and both the treatments were significantly better than RFD alone. The per cent increase in cane yield, with application of Biomix-I, varied from 6.5–6.9% in different Biomix-I treatments. Integration of FYM with RFD increased the cane yield and improved the soil health.
