Response of basmati rice (Oryza sativa) to organic, inorganic and integrated nutrient management practices

Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during kharif season of 2010 at Raipur (Chhattisgarh), India in Inceptisols to study the response of organic, inorganic and integrated nutrient management in basmati rice (Oryza sativa L.) variety ‘Kasturi’. Results revealed that higher values of growth and grain yield of rice were recorded under treatment T7 (100% recommended dose of fertilizers-RDF), followed by T1 (50% RDF + 50% N from cow dung manure (CDM). Application of 100%N (1/3 rd eachfrom CDM + neemcake, NC + compostedcrop residue, CCR) an organic treatment had also exhibited its positive impact on growth and yield attributes. Highest net return ( 42280 ha−1) was registered in treatment T3 (100% N - 1/3 rd each from CDM + NC + CCR + GM in rice) over T7 (100% RDF). However, B:C ratio signified the superiority of inorganic (2.86) over organic and INM packages.
