Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during kharif season of 2011 on cement mounded pots at Kanpur, to study the growth behavior and yield potential of mungbean [Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek] genotypes. Results revealed that maximum plant height was recorded in genotype KM-2252; however, KM-2263 was attained smallest among the genotypes. Genotype KM-2285 recorded maximum dry weight of leaves plant−1, dry matter production plant−1, leaf area plant−1, 100-seed weight and seed yield plant−1, followed by KM-2251. However, minimum values of thses growth and yield attributing characters was recorded with genotype KM-2263. Similarly, maximum seeds pod−1 was recorded in KM-2285, followed dry KM-2251 and minimum seeds pod−1 was observed in genotype KM-2280. Seed yield plant had significantly positively correlation with dry weight of leaves plant−1, leaf area plant−1, total dry matter plant−1, NAR, RGR, seeds pod−1, 100-seed weight and harvest index.
