The importance of forages and livestock sector is increasingly being realized from all corners in recent times due to their multifaceted role in sustainable production, employment generation, drought proofing, natural resource conservation, nutritional security and export potential. Global climate change is now a reality. However, its impact will vary across various regions and sectors depending on their inherent resilience capacity and vulnerability. Forage and livestock components are both contributor as well as source of adaptation and mitigation to climate change. Climate resilient resource conservation food-fodder production system approaches have tremendous promise for large scale adoption in semi-arid region to solve the soil and water related constraints, enhance the farm productivity and income of farm families. Such innovative technologies with adequate R & D as well as policy support to further can be up scaled. This review paper examines the impact of climate change on forage and livestock sector and possible adaptation and mitigation strategies to minimize its ill effects and achieve sustainable production
