Contribution of CBIP for Accelerated Development in Water Resources and Power Sector in the Country

Abstract

Central Board of Irrigation & Power (CBIP) in its objective for dissemination of knowledge has been conducting various conferences, seminars, etc. CBIP has been holding conferences for more than 80 years. Besides National Research and Development Session with support of various States Government.

With effect from the year 1995, which marked the 60th (Diamond Jubilee) R&D Session at the national level, the CBIP decided to organize the event, once in two years, as an International R&D Conference with a view to sharing research results at a global level in the changed economic scenario. The first six International R&D Conferences have been held so far in 1995, 1997, 2000, 2003, 2005 and 2007, in the states of Delhi, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh.

7th International Research and Development Conference “Development and Management of Water and Energy Resources” is going to be held from 4–6 February 2009 in Bhubaneswar, Orissa with the support of Water Resources and Energy Departments, Government of Orissa.

The above documents are jointly being prepared by CBIP and Water Resources and Energy Departments, Government of Orissa.

The achievement and contributions of various stake holders are being covered in all the above documents. The coverage of contributions and achievements in power sector of one such organization in Orissa, i.e., OPTCL, which is playing a dynamic role in growth of the state, is given here under.
