Antibody-based immunoassays are gaining attention in bioanalytical fields owing to their ability to detect antibiotic residues rapidly and simply. Antibiotic residues in food products are of major concern, causing health risks and environmental damage. In recent years, there has been a rapid increase in the development of antibiotic residue monitoring tools. Traditional analytical methods are time-consuming, labor-intensive, and often laboratory-bound. Efforts to achieve rapid, simple, and sensitive screening of antibiotic residues in the field have become an utmost priority to ensure food safety. This review summarizes antibody production and established immunoassays for antibiotic residue detection.
