Landsat 8 satellite images have been used to prepare land use and land cover (LULC), Normalised Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), and Land Surface Temperature (LST) maps for the Thiruvananthapuram district of India for 2015 and 2025. The change in various LULC classes, i.e., vegetation, built-up area, water, barren land, and agricultural land between these periods has also been studied. The results indicated that there is an increase in built-up area by almost 100% and a reduction in vegetation cover by 22% in 10 years. However, the mean LST of the district has decreased by 1.20°C in the same period. The minimum, mean, and maximum LST for different LULC classes for these two periods have also been studied. Analysing the correlation coefficients between LST and NDVI, it was found that there exists a weak correlation between these two variables for 2015 and 2025. The increase in diversity of landscapes in the study area could be the reason behind the weak R2 values.
