Climate Change and Uttarakhand's Agriculture: Consequences and the Way Forward

Uttarakhand's agriculture is predominantly vulnerable to climate change because of its dependence on rain, rugged and steep topography, poor infrastructure, dominance of marginal land holdings and rapid migration. Moreover, being a mountain state it's social context characterises with low level of institutional capacity consequent to intensify the impact of atmospheric changes. The rationale of this article is to examine the evidences of climate change in Uttarakhand and their impacts on agriculture sector. This note also discusses a range of adaptation strategies make the opportunity to improve the agriculture management in the context of climate alteration for sustainable progress towards the climate resilient trails.
