In the rainfed agriculture, the global position of India is prominent. Rainfed agriculture is extremely vulnerable to the flood and weather-shocks. Although major portion of India's agriculture is confined to rainfed zone, India has moved from shortage to surplus due mainly to research and development enabled agricultural crop varieties and production technologies. On the other hand, there are factors such as flood, drought, extreme weather that resulted in the change in land use pattern which is impacting the sustainability and productivity of Indian the agricultural system. This calls for achieving climate resilience in agriculture through proper land resource inventory, efficient agro-technologies and agricultural contingency plans.
