Abstract

The correlation and path coefficient analysis conducted under early, normal and late sown conditions, using data from 72 eco-geographically diverse genotypes, revealed that the planting dates had no significant effect on most of the associations. Seed yield exhibited positive and highly significant correlations with branches, clusters, pods and biomass/plant, and all these yield contributing characters were also positively and significantly correlated with each other in all the three environments. The path analysis indicated that biomass/plant, followed by harvest index had the highest positive direct effect on seed yield. Fruiting branches, clusters and pods/plant had high positive indirect effect via biomass on seed yield/plant in all the three environments.
