Results of empirical studies of some traits of wheat revealed that days for heading, plant height, 1000-grain weight, no. of grains/spike and grain yield/spike had non-Normal distribution. Distribution in case of there characters was found to be positively skewed and Platykurtic, positively skewed and leptokurtic, positively skewed and Mesokurtic, negatively skewed and Mesokurtic, and symmetric and Platykurtic, respectively. All other traits i.e. grain yield/plot, no. of spikelets/spike and tillers/meter row length were found to be normally distributed. For selection up to 5%, selection intensity for plant height (γ1 > 0, γ2 > 0) is underestimated by the expected SI, whereas days for heading (γ1 > 0, γ2<0), no. of grains/spike(γ1 < 0, γ2 = 0), grain yield/spike (γ1= 0, γ2 < 0) and 1000-grain weight (γ1 > 0, γ2 = 0) are overestimated by expected SI values.
