Floral and Morphological Traits of Some A, B And R Lines of Rice

Twenty six genotypes comprising of eight CGMS lines, their maintainers and ten elite restores were evaluated for floral and morphological traits. The traits studied were angle of floret opening, time of 50 per cent flowering, duration of floret opening, stigma length, stigma exsersion (percentage), panicle exsersion (percent), stem length, duration of flowering, attitude of flag leaf, anther length and width, number of panicles and panicle length. All the genotypes showed significant variation for the traits studied. It was observed that CGMS lines are shorter than corresponding maintainers and have erect flag leaf. Duration of floret opening varied 170.3 to 280 min. in CGMS lines, whereas in case of maintainers and restores, time of 50 percent flowering varied from 97–124 days. Some combination of CGMS and restore lines, which have synchronous flowering were identified.
