A 6 x 6 diallel study in Kabuli chickpea was performed for yield and other quantitative traits. The gca and sea components suggested predominance of additive gene effect for plant height and non-additive gene effect for number of branches per plant, pods per plant, grains per pod, 100 grain-weight, grain yield per plant, biological yield per plant and harvest index. Parents BG 1053 and MPJGK 2 were the best general combiners for grain yield and 100 grain-weight. The crosses BG 1088 x GNG 1292, MPGJK 2 x PG 95311 and PG 95311 x L550 were found to be best specific cross combinations for grain yield and biological yield per plant, while cross combination BG 1053 x L 550 had high sea for grain yield per plant.
