Abstract

Thirty diverse genotypes of Trigonella foenum-graecum L were evaluated for seed yield and quality attributes. Significant genetic difference were observed amongst genotypes for all the traits. Heritability estimates were high for all the traits except for pod length. Seed yield was found to be positivaly and significantly correlated with plant height, pod number, seeds per pod, 1000 seed weight, harvest index and sapogenin content. Path analysis revealed that plant height, pod number, seeds per pod 1000 seed weight and harvest index had direct effects on seed yield. Some of the genetypes have been indentified as desirable for yield and quality attributes which can be used in crossing programme to develop high yielding better quality genotypes.
