Abstract

The present investigation was carried out to induce variability in a well known traditional rice variety Jeeraga Samba through mutagens namely EMS and colchicine. Variability parameters were estimated for yield component characters. The PCV and GCV showed significant higher values fo number of productive tillers per plant, panicle length, number of grains per panicle, 100 grain weight and grain yield per plant in M2 and M3 generations. The above characters also showed high heritability coupled with genetic advance as per cent of mean in both the generations.
