Eleven rice genotypes were selected to produce 33 F1 partial diallel crosses. Good general combiners for dwarfness and earliness were parents, ET1443 and NDR-118. For day to maturity (Y2), test weight and volume expansion parent Sasya Shree exhibited desirable effect. Parent NDR-359 was best general combiner for grain yield and number of effective tillers for plant. In general, non-additive genetic variance was larger than the additive variance for most of the characters under study except number of grains per panicle and test weight (Y2). Average degree of dominance revealed over dominance for almost all the traits. Partial dominance was exhibited by number of grains per panicle while water uptake number exhibited complete dominance.
