Abstract

Combining ability studies were carried out through line x tester analysis involving seven lines and three testers for seven quantitative characters in green gram. The combining ability variance revealed that the SCA variances were greater in magnitude than the GCA indicating the preponderance of non-additive gene action for all the yield attributing characters. The parents LGG 450, LGG 410, ADT 3 and KM 2 were identified as good general combiners based on gca effect. The hybrids LGG 450/ADT 3, VRMGG Local/KM 2 and LGG 410/ADT 3 exhibited high sea effects for all the economics traits.
