The Combining ability analysis of 32 F1 ‘ s in chickpea between sixteen lines and two testers along wih their parents revealed significant non-additive gene action for plant height, primary branches per plant, pods per plant, yield per plant and 100 seed weight as variances due to specific combining ability (SCA) were higher than the general combining ability (GCA) variances. The parents BG1106 and GJG 9707 were the best general combiners for yield per plant, secondary branches per plant, plant height and pods per plant. The cross Pusa 362 x BG 1053 had the highest SCA values for grain yield per plant and pods per plant together with higher per se performance.
