Abstract

Triple test cross analysis of fifteen inbred lines with three testers revealed the evidence of significant interallelic Interactions (epistasis) for days to 50 per cent anthesis, days to 50 per cent silking, days to 50 per cent husk browning, plant height, ear length, ear diameter, number of kernel rows, number of kernels per row, 1000 grain weight, yield per plot and yield per hectare with greater importance of fixable type of epistasis (i) for all traits excepting plant height which showed non fixable component (j+l) to be important. Epistasis was absent for ear height. Component analysis recorded importance of additive genetic variance with partial dominance for all traits excepting for ear height, where degree of dominance was in the overdominance range. The non significant estimates of F revealed ambidirectional dominance for all traits.
