Genetic analysis was performed on progenies developed in F2 generation of an intervarietal cross PLR-1 x Green Round of brinjal using NCD1. Significant differences among males in sets as compared to females in males in sets for all the traits in the study indicated substantial contribution of plants chosen as males towards the variation among progenies. Additive variance was more pronounced than dominance genetic variance for all the traits except number of primary branches per plant indicating the importance of additive gene effects. Narrow sense heritability was high for plant height. Full-sib family selection was found superior to the mass selection.
