Introgression of Quality Traits from Triticcum Dicoccoides to Bread Wheat Variety PBW 343

Abstract

Eleven BC3F6 bread wheat lines carrying introgression from Triticum dicoccoides were evaluated for physico-chemical (Grain appearance score, test weight, 1000-grain weight, grain hardness, protein content,falling no., gluten content and gluten index, sedimentation value, diastatic activity), rheological (Mixographics), and agronomic traits (Days to flowering, plant height, tillers/m, spikelets/spike, 1000-grain weight, yield/plot). Performance for each of the traits was compared with recipient variety PBW343. Introgression lines DIC-IN-6 was identified to possess superior 1000 grain weight, test weight, protein content, sedimentation value and grain hardness. DIC-IN-6 was significantly superior for bread score (7.25 out of 10) compared to PBW 343 (5.90).
