Innovative Design Interventions for Customised Compact Secondary Substations - A Utility Experience

With growing population density and expansion of metro cities vertical growth of residential and commercial complexes, high cost of Real Estate and resultant space constraint for Electrical Infrastructure, it is necessary to design tailor made (Customised) Compact Substations which were not only small in footprint, but also easy to install and yet were reliable and safe for commissioning in midst of public places. Few solutions are answer to emergency supply restoration and construction power in the form of Substation Mobility (Substation on wheel).

Retaining existing customers and drawing new ones, in the face of competition in power distribution in Mumbai region acted as another catalyst, necessitating the development of compact substations.
