Growing size and complexity of the Indian Power System has led to an increased emphasis on improving the information visualization for the grid operator. The lack of geographical information to the system operator can be detrimental during natural disasters. This paper presents the use of geographical maps for displaying different types of power system information and special displays created to facilitate grid operation during both, normal operation and natural disasters. The new geographic visualizations are mainly voltage contour, selected angle pairs contours, representing critical flow gates, location of substations with respect to rivers and plotting the trajectory of cyclones on the power maps.
