Transmission Asset Management Through In-House Developed Software for Transmission System of Gujarat State, India

This paper talks about the asset management of quite complex transmission and sub-transmission system of Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Ltd (GETCO), Gujarat State, India by development of inhouse modular software, a unique approach. Day by day GETCO transmission system is expanding and it's becoming difficult to keep track of entire organisation asset through traditional methods of hard copies. A need was felt to have whole asset related O&M data & information in digital and process enabled form at central location and availability of useful information across organisation through dashboard, auto (system) generated standard report at regular predefined interval and generation of customized report as per requirement as and when required for decision making.

For any transmission utility, Asset Management is highly technical key business process and forms the basis and act as backbone for majority of other business function. So, development of Transmission Asset Management software was given the top most priority.

The software, named as Transmission Asset Management System (TAMS), is a web based software to capture asset inventory, maintenance & testing records, equipment wise condition monitoring data, frequency of testing, equipment/location/supplier wise life cycle data, daily occurrences like tripping of elements, failure of equipment, O&M Budget and Expenditure tracking, and to generate MIS as daily “Good Morning Report”, monthly report, equipment/location/supplier wise/within Guarantee/Outside Guarantee period failure analysis, planning of Renovation and Modernisation etc. The software is helping in taking right and speedy decisions based on system auto generated reports and live data.
