Gonadotropic treatment of female camels for superovulation increased the serum estradiol concentration over the pre-treatment levels around 6–10 days (p<0.05) after initiation of treatment. The increase in estradiol concentration varied between animals. The increase was mild (peak levels 40.81 pg/ml) in 1/5 (20%), moderate (peak levels 51.87 and 69.79 pg/ml) in 2/5 (40%) and high (peak levels 216.6 and 325.7 pg/ml) in yet another 2/5 (40%) females. The varying response might have been due to varying number of follicles recruited for the growth during the treatment, quite probable that high number of follicles recruited in animals exhibiting high levels of estradiol and so on.
