The present communication deals with the growth and development of tadpoles in polluted water of a wetland (Borsola beel) located centrally in Guwahati city. The wetland receives waste water from domestic, municipal and industrial sources of the city. Study revealed considerable delay in various stages of metamorphosis and occurrence of deformity in parts of tadpole body in polluted environment.
