Complexes of Ruthenium (VI) of the type [Ru(O)2(L)2] (L = C6H5COO−, C2H5COO−, CF3COO−, CH3COO−) have been synthesized and characterised using elemental analysis, infrared and Raman spectroscopy. The complexes Sr[Ru(O)3(OH)2].xH2O, [Ru(O)2(OOCCF3)2] or [Ru(O)2(OOCC6H5)2] have been found to be good oxidizing agent for the oxidation of benzylalcohol to benzaldehyde while oxidation of cyclohexanol to cyclohexanone is achieved using Sr[Ru(O)3(OH)2]. The formation of different compounds have been rationalized.
