Influence of fertilizer levels on yield and economics of leafy types of coriander (Coriandrum sativum l.)

A field experiment was conducted at the Department of Spices and Plantation Crops, Horticultural College and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore during 2006–08.

The experiment was laid out in a factorial randomized block design using four treatments with three replications. The main plot treatments comprised two varieties viz., Co CR-4 and CS 11 and sub-plot treatments comprised different levels of fertilizer doses viz., 125, 100 and 75% and recommended N, P and K through drip fertigation. In the control plot, the recommended dose of NPK was applied to soil with furrow irrigation. Phosphorus was applied to all the treatments as basal application. The results revealed that yield, gross return and net return were higher under the fertigation treatment with 125% water soluble fertilizer with variety Co CR-4 (T₁). However, the highest benefit: cost ratio was recorded under the treatment 125% water soluble fertilizer with variety Co CR-4 (T₁).
