Abstract

A thermophilic, heterothallic species of Mucor-M. imietiana A. Swathi Sri.& A. Subrahm.sp. nov.isolated from garden soil from MIET campus is described and illustrated. It grows well at 50°C on synthetic mucor agar and potato-dextrose agar from pH 3.0–9.0 with an optimum pH at 7.0. The specific epithet refers to its habitat.
