Gliomastix indicus S. Nagalakshmi & A. Subrahm sp.nov. was isolated from a wasteland soil sample collected at Tiruchengode, Tamilnadu. It rapidly grows on all common mycological media like malt extract, potatodextrose agar etc. Due to the presence of catenulate amerospores, it is assigned to the genus Gliomastix. It stands distinct from all the known species in having rapid growth rate and larger conidia. Its ability to reduce paper mill effluent and colour is an additional feature of distinction.
