Abstract

A series of some new chalcones were synthesized by Claisen-Schmidt condensation of 3'-methyl-4'-hydroxyacetophenone with various substituted aromatic/heteroaromatic aldehydes in the presence of alkali. The resulting chalcones were characterized by IR, 1H NMR and Elemental analysis. These chalcones were evaluated for their anti-inflammatory activity and some of them exhibited significant activity when compared with the standard.
