Women empowerment through indian five year plans for rural development

The Role of women in development is most related to the goal of comprehensive socio-economic development. In 70 years of India's independence ten five year plans have been passed, ‘more than dozen of anti-poverty and employment programmes have been implemented. In this respect there should be a change in development strategy of people staying in the rural masses. Empowering Women is one of the best strategies for it. Women represent round 50% of world population constitute 30% of the World's official labor’ force but are concentrated in the lowest paid occupations & more vulnerable to unemployment perform 60% of working hours, receives 10% of the world income & own even less than 1% of the world property. This is the lawful economic profited of women in the world. This is very much true of Indian women of rural women. Therefore the key for rural development lies on women empowerment. The present Paper tries to study how women empowerment will give momentum to development of women in rural areas.
