The present work mainly focuses blood cell abnormalities by using Megadera lyra lyra as a model because conservation of nature is very important for today’s polluted world. To produce reference ranges from a variety of haematological parameters with species reference to blood cell abnormalities in the great false vampire bat, Megaderma lyra lyra during different months of annual cycle. Such data on natural populations like Megadarma lyra lyra might serve as taxonomic, phylogenetic and physiological purpose not available for the order Chiroptera. It is hoped that the results of this study would eventually be related to populations in other geographical areas and ecotypes and would not only be restricted to India. These data would also be necessary to determine the influences of handling stress, immobilization, nutrition, oscillations in food availability, tolerable levels of temperature and fear of life due to threatening situations.
