Assistant Professor,
In a world increasingly defined by ever-growing emotional disorders and problems in living, psychotherapy has emerged as an effective solution to cope with these challenges. Psychotherapy is a form of treatment in which the therapist, through talking with the patient, attempts to help him or her confronts issues, primarily emotional in nature, and overcome the difficulties associated with them. These ‘issues’ include several psychoses and neuroses, such as phobias, anxiety reactions, depression, obsessions, compulsive behavior, as well as interpersonal difficulties as unassertiveness, lack of interpersonal skill, violent behavior deviant sexual behavior, marital and family difficulties, and even habit problems like drug abuse excessives and obesity. As such, the benefits of psychotherapy cannot be overemphasized, and there is great need for active encouragement of this process.
