Samarth Ramdasa was born in 1608 in the village of Jamb in Marathwada to Suryajipant and Ranubai. His original name was Narayan and his last name was Thosar. There is no consensus between the scholars about his visit with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. However, they give special importance to revelation of inner being and attainment of religious good in his literature. His dream was to convey the advanced teachings of Vedanta to the Buddhist people to fix the shattered State of Dharma. Ramdas did not give importance to social equality like Saint Tukaram and Saint Eknath. Rather he gives importance to Varnashram Dharma in his literature.
