Families life is full of stress. This stress finds its expression in restlessness, depression and loss of psycho-physical harmony in families. The outbreak of psychosomatic diseases like cardiac problems, hypertension, ulcer, asthma, insomnia, diabetes, etc; is posing a great danger to the health and well being of the modern society or families. Even an advanced medical science is finding it very difficult to provide the required relief and remedy to these health problems. Therefore, stress, being the root-cause of all these problems, needs to be studied in a holistic manner to find a solution to it. “Stress is a state in which the natural homeostasis of the body is disrupted. Stress is caused by any threat to the organism. Disease, heat, cold, thirst, fatigue can be causes of stress. Emotional arousal can also bring about stress.” Stress is the process that involves the perception of a substantial imbalance between environmental demand and response capability under conditions where failure to meet demand is perceived as having important consequences and is responded to with increased levels of anxiety. Stress as occurring when there is an imbalance between the perceived demand and the perceived response capability of the organism. But the consequences must be anticipated that failure to meet the demands will result in adverse consequences. Stress which wrecks the psycho-physical mechanism of human beings can be managed and transformed positively. The only thing, one needs to do is to learn the specific techniques suitable to one's temperament and practice them regularly.
