During the independence free movement, Gandhi brought together people of different castes and religions and started a non-cooperation movement against the British rule to create a united India. Gandhi's thoughts united the whole country with the spirit of patriotism, towards the nation service and patriotism. Opposing sectarian principles, he preached interfaith harmony not only to the country but to the whole world. His efforts for Hindu-Muslim unity as well as his ideas on national education, Gramswarajya, dignity of labour, Vishwast Siddhanta, Sarvodaya Sankalpana etc. andhis con structive programs makehis views clear ona united India.
