Abstract

Both males and females are needed to maintain the balance of living things in nature. Human society needs contribution of both male and female for its progress. We cannot imagine the human society without the co-existence of men and women. Therefore, in Indian culture both men and women are considered as two wheels of the chariots of the family. But in Indian society, women are always looked down upon. In the nineteenth century, many social reformers tried to change the status of women, prominent among Tathagata Gautam Buddha, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Rajshri Shahu Maharaj, Sant Kabir, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule etc. Today, the contribution of women in nation building is immense. Today we see a picture of women leading in every field.
