Good governance is one of the debated issues of the day. A lot of hue and cry is going on in the third world countries since the term was coined and emphasized by the World Bank and donor nations. India has also to comply with the directions and accordingly some reforms were introduced in the politico-administrative setup of the country. Democratic decentralization through 73rd and 74th Constitutional Amendments Acts, 1992 and Right To information Act 2005, are the revolutionary changes introduced in this regard by the Government which has made adequate constitutional and statutory provisions for participation of the people in the Indian Polity and administration as well as to ensure transparency and accountability therein. The sincere application of these Acts is indeed a stride towards Good Governance.
