Active people's participation in the decision making process of governance is the sin-qua-non of success of democracy. Further, to ensure meaningful people's participation, freedom of expression is essential, which implies the Right to Information. The significance of this right also lies in the fact that it helps in making citizens more vigilant and enlightened which, in turn, helps in improving the quality of decision making on the one hand and forces the administration to become more responsive and responsible to the masses, on the other hand. Thus, the right to information is a basic to achieving the ideas of participatory democracy, Further; this right serves as an important tool to curb the evil of corruption as corruption thrives in secret places. In light of this, the paper presents a case of implementation of The Right to Information Act in Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, and Haryana.
