Public Policy Making in Bangladesh: Problems and Prospects

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to identify the problems and pitfalls of public policy making in the developing countries like Bangladesh and to recommend political, administrative and economic agents for further improvement of the quality and standard of public policy.

Literature review has been done to see the problems and prospects of public policy making in Bangladesh. It includes rigorous content analysis from secondary sources.

The policies are rolled out regularly in developing nations like Bangladesh, but most of the time, without achieving the desired results. This is because the process of policy formulation in these countries is not done properly due to lack of democratic values and influence of powerful elites in administration. And finally, the study concludes that modernisation of the policy-making process is essential to make the policy proactive.

This paper identifies some interesting bottlenecks to successful public policy making in Bangladesh. It will help the future research to work more intensively on particular bottlenecks so that some impo rtant suggestion for improving the public policy framework in Bangladesh.
